Essaouira the place of all smiles, @doystra
Cruise along waves and hijabs in Essaouira.
Enjoy the great mix of Arabic culture, food and insight into a charming way of life.
Essaouira is a real place to live, it has a depth and soul that is nothing to do with the tourists. The medina is a hubabub of activity and every corner or street you walk down has a different story to tell. The harbour works 24/7 except on Eid, The religious festivals, bringing an array of fresh fish daily, if the fisherman have had a good day they give out bags of sardines to the locals as a gift!. A friend described Essaouira as the city of smiles, which sums it up perfectly.
Weather When is the best time to travel to Essaouira?
Essaouira is lucky to pretty much be an all year round destination and a great place to head for a bit of winter sunshine. For surfing if you are a beginner there are waves all year round in front of our centre. For intermediate surfers the swell starts to hit the coast from September through to the end of April. For Windsurfers and Kiters the more consistent wind is from end of March through to the end of November, with the windiest months being June - end of August. Although we still get windy days in December!

#watersports Essaouira is a dream spot destination for water sports. You will spend as much time you want in the water having fun with your new friends from Explora Watersports
The stretch of endless beach and consistent wind in the summer and great swell in the winter has made Essaouira famous for watersports
There is always something to do here, if it is windy you can kite or windsurf on low wind days there is always surfing. It doesn't just stop here though, you have a huge range of alternative activities to keep your days busy. Essaouira is a great spot for families or groups of friends who have different interests.
You can gallop along the beach, blast across the dunes on a quad, mountain bike across endless countryside tracks, relax and breathe with a yoga session on the roof terrace, step back in time as you ride on a camel, wander around the medina and soak up the atmosphere, or just simply relax with a good book on a sunlounger and soak up the sun. For the foodies there is also a great cookery class and market tour.

- GoPlaces620029, March 6, 2020 First time on a surfboard and it was awesome. We booked a 12 hrs course and made a huge progress (semi-private course). Even catched some small green waves at the end of the course. Hamza was our instructor and he was awesome. He always tried to correct our mistakes but never forgot the fun.Highly recommended! show more
